Day 6: Around Byron Bay

The Esplanade

One of the downsides to staying in a youth hostel without a full traveling kitchen is that making a cup of tea in the morning becomes difficult. The camp kitchen is miles away and they don’t have cups. We settled for a takeaway coffee and egg and bacon butty instead. It was good – but not the same thing.

After a fair bit of phaffing around we eventually left the Lodge at 11am and headed into town for more exploring and a walk to the lighthouse. We came across three lovely ladies celebrating a 70th birthday with champagne and morning tea. Zoom in to see the fancy cake plates!

The Lighthouse

The climb up to the lighthouse was worth it. Especially to see the view of stage one of our travels for the next day. The stretch along Tallow Beach from Byron to Broken Head Nature Reserve.

The Lodge

We dropped into the shops on our way back to get drinks and nibbles for the evening. The footage below shows the setting for our lodge stay.
