Welcome to Miss Jane Suggests and into my world of mental fidgeting. I have an interesting job, a house I cherish and a family I love, but what gives me the greatest satisfaction is creating and discovering – and sharing.
Travel
Travel – around Tasmania, Australia and the World. By car, train, boat or plane. I love the feeling of seeing a landscape moving – flashing fast in a side window, slowly undulating from several thousand feet, or swaying as my vessel heads away from the shore – as I move towards the unknown. And once I am there; to experience another person’s way of life, to hear or speak their language, to see their landscape – is the most wonderful thing.
Although life sometimes gets in the way – I try to have at least future destination planned and booked at all times. I am an incessant researcher, planner and organiser. While this doesn’t necessarily translate to having a strict itinerary, it does mean that I can get the most out of each excursion. Some of my suggestions will talk of holidays yet to come – sharing my research and discoveries and inviting your suggestions on how to do it better.

Cooking and inventing
I’m not a fancy cook, but I do like to know how to make a range of different dishes and to use up surplus ingredients. I like to understand the chemistry behind different techniques. Why do egg whites need to be at room temperature? What happens to make a mayonnaise split? How does a keto diet burn fat?
Books and more books
Reading makes up the trilogy of the most rewarding things for me to do. I always have piles of books – to be read or on the go – next to my bed. I couldn’t imagine going away – even for a night – without something ready to devour.
