Setting Sail

We headed off from the Chesterfield Hotel at 8am to walk the 20 minutes to Pier 1. We had investigated the port the previous day to ensure that we knew exactly where we needed to go.  It is a working port and passengers and foot traffic are clearly a low priority.

The ship had 640 passengers, two dining rooms, a cafe, an inside lounge/bar, an outside bar and a jacuzzi.  There was no scheduled entertainment and although we did see families with children, it wasn’t a family style cruise.  Very relaxed and easy.

Our cabin was spacious, with a couch, kettle and TV.  We opted to pay more to have a window which gave us a very good view of the coast line well into the night.

Food at sea

We had the option when booking the cruise to take the meal package. for $250 we could have breakfast lunch and dinner.  This seemed a little high, and we had been eating plenty recently, so we decided to use it to force us to eat up our leftovers.

The entree platter of olives, pate, herb creamcheese and crackers.
Dinner of cornchips, red kidney beans with salsa and cheese.

Ports of call

The ship stopped at a number of ports over the 2 day one night voyage.  We were only able to disembark at Kristiansund for about 450 minutes.  The other stops were during the night and mainly resupply for outlying townships.

Our cabin was very close to one of the cargo doors, so about 5 times during the night we heard it open and close.
