Goteborg (pronounced Got-hen-berg) is upstream from two archipeligos, North and South. We decided that it would be fun to visit one of them. The decision was South. Olivia selected Donso (pronounced Donsa) as the town we would visit first, and then we would walk across a bridge connecting us to Styrso and the Port Styrso Bratten to catch the ferry home.
The ferry was part of the normal bus/tram system for Goteborg, so the trip out only cost about 39 SEK ($7). On arrival, we bought some breakfast (breadrolls, BBQ chicken legs, vegan salami!) and found a place in the shade to eat. Shade is a rare commodity in Sweden we are increasinly finding.

Transport on the islands is mostly by bike or golf cart. Cars are rare and mostly used for functional things like tradies or emergency services. It means that these little vehicles only take up part of the road, so we were not surprised to be witness to people stopping on a bridge to hop out and chat to their friends and neighbours. Sweden has some very good ideas for building community.

When we arrive in Stryso we saw all kinds of preparation for a major athletic event. Tents. Kiosks. First aid stations. It appears that this small town is just one of many ‘stops’ on the multi-island Otillo Swinrun event.
https://otilloswimrun.com/ they have three different length events, and a quick google search of the winner of the longest challenge was one of our own -Adirel Yound.

We had about 1 hour before our ferry home arrived and so needed both some more Pigglin and a swim. The 90-minute ferry home was more relaxing than the trip out, where our selected time had coincided with many, many, many families clearly making a day of it.
