Sally arranged for us to have a big day out in London – doing very Christmas things. We headed to Central London on the train and were surprised to see that while busy, it wasn’t mad. The day was foggy but not wet or windy – so the perfect atmosphere for festive activities.

Gingerbread Houses
We attended an exhibition of houses, buildings, and scenes from around London constructed by architecture firms and schools. The assortment of techniques and materials was inspiring. Rice paper, lollies, ice-cream cones. I am keen to try creating stained glass windows when I return home

Curling on South Bank
Fake curling is fun. We were the only people there for a while, so we had two lanes to spread out in. Competiton was fierce, ending with a round or ‘boys’ versus ‘girls’. The outcome was inevitable.

And so as darkness started to fall, we made our way home to cold turkey sandwiches, more wine, and an early night; for tomorrow, we head to Portugal.
